Lost Camera

Our camera has disappeared! I have no idea where it is, or when exactly we lost it.  The last pictures we removed from it were from mid-January or so... :(  I feel like I'm missing out on "kodak moments" with Aislynn.  Every day I'm saying to myself "Man, I wish we had our camera to take a picture of her right now".  I could use the camera-phones, but the memory is full.  I could get out the video camera, but I think the battery is dead & not sure where the charger is... coulda-woulda-shoulda!
I'm seriously debating going out & buying a cheap dig camera from Walmart.

Not much new going on except that Aislynn clapped 2 days ago :) She's been clasping her hands together, but actually did a "clap" or two during the day.  Haven't seen it since.

Last night was a rough night.  Aislynn has had a mild fever for a couple days.  Doc said she may be getting a cold - but not to worry.  Her fever spiked in the middle of the night & she started having little convulsions (more like body flinches) every  few minutes or so for about 15-20 mins.  I can't type out all the details w/out getting sad... it was so hard to watch... my precious baby going through that. Ugh.  Thankfully after 4 hours of calming & cooling her down - we fell back to sleep around 5:30 am.  (rough day).  She's been fine today and her happy self which is all I care about.  Doc says that can happen when the fever gets high.  And, rough day at work - I'm just ready for this week to be over.

So - hopefully we'll find our camera, or find a cheap replacement so I can capture the cuteness!  My baby girl is getting so big.  When we took her to the Doc Monday, she was 19 lbs.  Doc said to expect a tooth by the end of the week (it's been 10 months in the making).  I have a feeling it's going to be a pretty darn good tooth!

Standing tall...

STAND:  A couple weeks ago, Aislynn pulled herself up.  The next day, she did it more and more.  The next day - she's a pro.  By the end of the week, that's ALL she wanted to do, was to stand and bounce.  (She actually refused to sleep b/c she just wanted to stand.  We were nervous with her letting go & falling back)  We lowered her crib all the way down - and now when she pulls up, she scales the perimeter of her crib.  She also does this in the pack & play - she cruises around real good now.   She's back to sleeping now - but that first week, it was like she was spider-man or something.

SIGN:  On 1/27 Aislynn did her FIRST sign.  She signed "milk".  We've been signing to her for the past 5 months, even though we knew she wouldn't understand for awhile.  So before I nurse her, I lay her down (she knows she's about to eat so she gets a little anxious) and I do the sign for milk (Michael does same thing before he gives her a bottle).  Well, I laid her down last night, did the sign for milk - she started whining a little and then signed "milk" w/ her left hand! YAY! It will be neat to see her learn the other signs soon.

Other things she's doing over the past few weeks:
  • She leans and reaches now for us... (or leans and throws her body forward when she wants to go down)
  • She scrunches her nose and kinda does a fast "air-laugh" all the time... usually at the dog, or when something is funny.
  • She crawls very tall on hands & knees (and faster) - no more army crawling
  • She says "ny-ny-ny" or "nine-nine-nine" when she wants milk (or when she wants to eat)
  • She always smacks her lips when she sees us eating, or when she's about to eat
  • She is in size 3 diapers now (as of 2 weeks ago)
  • 1/26 she tried a little bit of formula for the first time (Baby's Only).  (mommy's running low) It's been a long 10 months of pumping at work - but the goal is to make it to 12 months, so we're almost there!
  •  She cruises around her crib, pack & play, or climbs on top of her toys, chest or scales the wall
  • She's starting to try & clap, she'll swing her arms and clasp her hands together, but not quite clapping yet
  • She just started making different noises and combination of sounds - hard to describe
  • She weighed 18 pounds last week
  • She's just moved down to one bottle during the day (3 times getting milk a day
  • Still NO TEETH but teething hard... they are coming!
Hard to believe she is 10 months old now.  I'm already starting to plan her birthday. I miss my newborn, my 2 month old, my 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 & 9 month old!  Each day brings something new.  My favorite thing so far... the big smile she gets on her face when I walk through the door.

Here she is eating spaghetti for the first time (well, 2nd time) but the first time feeding it to herself.  Gotta bring out the Italian in her.
Valentines day is coming up and it will be Michael and I's official 7 year anniversary.  I'm looking forward to celebrating it as a family :)

We can now say "yes, she's into everything!"

I swear, in the past WEEK Aislynn has gotten more chatty, more curious - and more aware than ever before!  We've had fun the last few weeks... Here's a recap.
A couple weekends ago, we got together with some friends (the preggo-clan) to let the babies get together.  Aislynn had fun with her best pals, Emma Grace, and Parker James.  Me, Kaci and Hillary were all preggo together (not to mention 2 others!) and we keep in touch regularly.  EG showed Parker and Aislynn how to crawl-climb.  It was fun to see them play (this was their 3rd play date).

Here they are at 4.5 months old

Here they are at 1 month old

and 8 months later (9 mo old)

Our big girl had her 9-month check up on 1/14. Her first appt got cancelled due to the blizzard of 2010.  Miss Aisy-poo weighed in at 17lbs, 27.5" long! She's right on track.  She did great.  Here she is all dressed up for her appt.

Our goal for the next month is going to try and increase the amount of food she eats, and see if she'll try using a sippy cup more often.  We're also going to try & teach her how to point, give kisses, wave "bye bye" & play peek-a-boo (okay, so those are my 'mommy' goals)  She's already learned "kisses" and will lean in for a peck.  We continue to sign to her (mama, dada, eat, milk, drink, 'all done', bath, sleep, more)  We want to work on "please", "full", "thank-you".  They'll all start kicking in with time.

Over this past weekend, I swear she gained a pound and decided she was going to be "Dora" the Explora!  She pulled herself up last week, so we lowered her matress.  Now, that's all she wants to do.  We lay her down, she flips over, grabs the rails & bloooop! She's standing.  She looks like she's doing the hula-dance b/c her mid-section gets wabbly... (video to come later).  She also talks NON-STOP (I have no idea where she gets that from) :)  She's constantly talking about something.  She also loves to sing.  She does these really high-pitch, soft, held-out sounds... she's not really saying anything, just kind of singing.  She also says 'la la la la la" aaaallll the time and really sticks her tongue out to get a good "la" in there.

    Some other things she's doing:
-Anytime it's time to eat, or anytime she sees us eating, she starts smacking her lips making it real obvious that she wants some food
-She's crawling better and wanting to crawl over and on top of things.  She had her first 'owie' when she climbed on to of a toy and lost her balance and hit her cheek on the side of it (she's fine though)
-She's got that super-hawk-like baby vision... where she can see any speck on the carpet and she's REALLY good using her finger and thumb to 'pinch' and pick up anything she sees.
-She likes feeding herself little bits of things and really smacks the food to get all the flavors out :)
    -NO TEETH yet
-She makes a bridge with her body when she's crawling around.  She'll push up on her hands, throw her butt in the air, and keep her legs totally straight- resting her toes on the ground like she's a TeePee or drawbridge...
-She likes standing on her knees (freely) like she's praying or something :)
-Just tried stage 3 baby food and she does just fine with it
-Tried 'yogo baby' yogurt & really liked it
-Still in size 2 diapers but after our current 'stock' runs out - we're moving to size 3.

This last weekend, we met a bunch of friends (and their babies) at a BBQ joint.  It was SO much fun - We of course, took an updated "preggo-clan" photo with all 5 mamas holding their babies (wait, 4 mamas, 1 daddy... Sarah was sick so her hubby Adam had to stand in).  Crazy to think we were just lined up holding our bellies!

Video link to "Aislynn & Alaina - gal pals"

So - it has officially begun... Aislynn getting into everything.  She's such a happy baby - I just crack up watching her.  She's so interested in everything.  It's awesome to see her grow & develop and do something new.  Each week, something new.  This week it's definitely pulling up and making a teepee/bridge with her body.  I have a ton of videos and pics to post later.  I can't believe I'm already thinking about her birthday, never too early to start planning! :)
It's hard work being an active baby!

    More vacation please?

2010 is going to be an awesome year - I'm proclaiming it!  I've been thinking a lot lately... One thing I think I'm finally accepting that my baby IS growing faster than I want, but I'm okay now.  Before, I would get so sad that she wasn't my tiny baby anymore, but now I see the little girl developing in her and I just love her more & more every day.  I will always reflect on each month of her life and what new things she would do, and I PATIENTLY await the new things to come. HOUSE: We've been DYING to sell our place for the past 4 years.  On the market, off the market - repairs & fix ups here & there, but I finally feel like we're getting there.  Our deck was FINALLY completed last month (that was 10 years overdue).  Just a few more exterior repairs (new paint etc...).  We're also getting a new roof thanks to the Spring '09 hail (another overdue project).  AND, thanks to the termites, we're going to have to redo the drywall in Aislynn's room this month - I'm HOPING the repairs aren't too costly, but it will allow us to better insulate her room & reseal the windows.  It gets cccoooollld in there.

The carpet we installed just a year ago is proving to be cheap!  It's wearing down faster than we expected and is losing it's "new carpet" look.  I'm already itching for a good Spring Cleaning.  I'm ready for a change! (Oh, and ready for a new couch.  Our "great deal" couch is wearing down).  It's times like these that we had lots of extra money for all these things, but we do just need to make these small sacrifices to reach our goal - MOVING!

AISLYNN: will be 9 MONTHS OLD this Friday.  I feel like I was just writing about her turning 8 months. I wish I could remember each detail of each day of her life, b/c it goes by so fast (uh, I guess a simple journal would take care of that)... BUT, it makes me thankful for each day I have with her.  I just want to make the MOST of each day God gives us, to love on my family, enjoy each minute & hour.  I have so much love for Aislynn, but it's NOTHING compared to how much God loves his children! I'm SO grateful I have experienced a mother's love!  Amazing to think that in 3 short months, my baby will be 1 year old! aaaaaahhhhhhhhh

So, back to the grind - work-work-work.  If only I had more vacation!  Speaking of vacation... next up will be ORLANDO in May!  I'm not ready to think of Spring.

I make resolutions EVERY year, which always fade by week 3... but I simply just want more organization, more structure, more exercise, more bible-reading, more volunteering this year.  Let's see how January goes.

Aislynn's new "thing" for the week (well, past few weeks really)
*Sleeping w/ butt up in the air
*Lots & lots of dada-mamas-babas-lalas-nanas-yaya's... she's VERY chatty
*Almost completely out of 6-9 mo clothes, mostly just 9mo or 6-12mo
*She eats all her different veggies/meat/fruits well - not too picky, only certain meat/veggie combos that makes her get the "yuk-face"
*For the past week, she's been doign this "heh heh heh heh heh" grunt/laugh thing - almost sounds like a mix between a cough and a laugh, not sure what it is - but she seems to do it when she's happy
*She's definitely established that she LOVES hair.  When I hold her, or lay next to her, she's always gotta have my hair - hold it, rub it on her face... she also likes to feel faces and play w/ my eyelashes
*She can now go from a sitting to a laying position, or laying to sitting, she's starting to act like she wants to pull up on stuff
    *Still army/inch-worm creepy crawling
*Started introducing a very diluted juice/water in sippy cup - drinks a little, but mostly bites/plays with it
    *Still no teeth
*Got her first signs of an ear infection - started going away w/ antibiotics

Yes! We got a curler in her hair

    Little flared-nose girl :)

Her new favorite way to sleep - bottoms up! The funniest part is that she sways her butt from side-to-side before she falls asleep.

Happy Christmas girl (w/ her uncle Tommy)

    Christmas 2009 (dada-mama-baba)

This Christmas was a whirlwind! My brother, sis-in-law, & nephews were in town from CO.  I took the week off & we had lots of fun hanging out.  We also got to hang w/ the whole big blended family which was quite entertaining. We went to the World of Coke w/ Tommy/Nickie/boys on Wednesday - it was fun.  Aislynn got to show the boys all the cool stuff since it was her 3rd trip there.  In the tasting zone, there's a drink called "Beverly" from Italy.  It's the most disgusting thing I've ever tasted (only once, and never again)... of all people, Kaden, my 4 yr old nephew, drank it - and liked it! It was funny to watch.  Nickie describes it as tasting like "ear wax" :)
Christmas Eve the crew came to the church service (awesome) and then we all gathered @ my dad's for his famous pasta dinner with other friends from church.  I swear all I did was eat (or "graze") the last week.
Christmas morning, we woke up, opened stockings and our presents.  Aislynn was so cute - of course she wanted to put all the wrapping paper and tissue paper in her mouth!  She loved all of her stuff though.  I made creamed corn & then we went to my dads.

After the whole crew came over, we had a turkey dinner, ornament exchange, and then presents.  There are 11 grandkids (from 8 months to 15 yrs old) not to mention the adults... everyone opened presents at the same time (paper was flying everywhere).  After a long Christmas Day, I crraaasshed - I'm still not caught up on sleep or cleaning!!!

Saturday, all the "gals" went to Sips N Strokes for some fun, and fun it WAS! We painted angel pictures, had some food & wine...

Sunday, had lunch @ dad's w/ the whole crew again, then took a family picture (all 20+ of us) Except Michael. He totally got sick Sat eve, then was wiped out completely Sunday... I thought it was swine - but there was no fever.  He's on the mend now, but has had a rough few days.  Then, Aislynn got a fever & has been fussy the last few days. I think it's an ear infection creeping in (round 10 of teething) she's been teething for 5 months, no teeth - and probably 1 month to go.  So she's been getting some antibiotics, and her fever went away this morning.
(can you tell where Michael is supposed to go?)

After being off this past week - I enjoyed my time with her so much - I miss her when I'm at work.  Every week she does something new... the last couple weeks, she does this fake/funny laugh thing, it's like a forced "ha.... ha.... ha... ha..." with spaces in between.
OH, HOW COULD I FORGET?  She also said "DADA" on Monday, 12/21.  The next day, she was saying "dadada dadadadada dadada dada dada" aaalllll day!  It's so funny to hear her talking different.  THEN... on Saturday or Sunday, she said "Mama" and sometimes says "mama mamamama mama"  She's also thrown a few "baba's" and "gaga's" in there.  She defintely likes her "a" vowel and is experimenting with volume levels (whispering 'dada' and using her tongue a lot more to form words).  She'll turn her tongue sideways to feel around in her mouth & kinda chew on it.  She's SO CUTE! :)
Another thing she's doing more, when she's hungry for baby food - she closes her mouth real tight (like she's sucking in her lips) and goes "mmmmm mmmm mmmmm" in this chanting tone.

I need to start keeping better track of her new weekly tricks.  Oh, the week before last it was the hand clasp thing where she just kinda opens & closes her hand real fast like she's grabbing air.  We are teaching her sign language & it kinda looks like the sign for milk, but I know she's not signing back to us yet.

So - New Years is around the corner.  I'm not ready to say goodbye to 2009!  What a year....

It's the MOST wonderful time of the year!

I LOVE Christmas time.  I love everything about the holiday, especially the meaning.  But I like all the other traditions too (stockings, santa, christmas trees, decorations, family, food, friends, cookies, parties, white elephant gifts!)  We haven't decorated like we normally do - but this year has just been so busy!  We did take Aislynn to see Santa for the first time - she did GREAT!  It's such a joy to watch her experience new things.  She's the best gift I could ask for - no others gifts required this year :)

My brother & his family will be flying into town next Monday, I can't wait to see them.  The entire GA blended-family-clan will be home for Christmas, so it will definitely be entertaining... man I still have so much shopping to do!
Christmas cards have been ordered - going in the mail soon... and for convenience, we created an electronic Christmas Card:

This last weekend, we heard the sad news that our WONDERFUL Pastor, Chuck Angel, and family will be moving to lead another church in TX.  Sunday, he shared from his heart, the unexpected calling God put in front of him - something that he is saying "YES" to.  I will miss him & his family terribly, but know it's all for the glory of God.  I can only imagine the amazing things that are in store for the church in TX.  So, this Christmas, will be especially hard to say goodbye (for now) to such a special family.  9 days till Christmas!!!

    Aislynn: 8 months & creepin-crawlin!

Aislynn is 8 months today! I wish time would sloooooww down! Last Thursday, 12/3 I took the day off to get caught up on some housework (I know, pretty sad I had to use a vacation day for that), but it was so worth it. I loved playing with baby all day. For the past month, she's been rocking (really, since she was about 6 months) I got to watch her scoootch herself across the floor in her official first "crawl". I was so proud of her, but also a little sad b/c she's just growing so fast. So there she was on her blanket. I had some toys in front of her... She'd get up on her hands/knees and rock, rock, rock... then she'd push herself forward w/ her knees and use her elbows to pull herself, then she's pop up and she'd be a little further then she was. She kept doing this till she reached her toy. During the last few days, she's gotten even better - kind of inch-worm, army crawling. Just wait till she realizes she can really take off!
She's just so much more sturdy in general - when she sits, she balances really well - she's just starting to lower herself from a sitting to laying position. Other updates & new characteristics:
*6 mo was the birdy chirping (high pitch) & rocking...
*7 months + she started screetching & yelling again (playfully) just these high pitch squeeling noises, her voice got the loudest it ever has... to the point that it rattles.
*Full on hair pulling to the extreme :) and MAJOR signs of teething w/ pink cheeks & all
*She started wanting to hold her bottle more by herself
*She really gets to batting on things (like she's playing drums)
*She started sitting in her tub now, she doesn't like to recline as much
*We introduced "meats" into her menu... she doesn't mind them too bad (still doesn't like peas) but she eats her veggies a little better
*Tried the little fruit "puffs" and she gums them up like she's chewing
*Weight at 7 1/2 mo was about 16 lbs (I need to take her other measurements
*Still wears size 2 diapers, still wears a few 3-6 months onesies/dresses, 6mo, 6-9month for other clothing.
*moved to taking 4 bottles a day and eating solids 3 times a day at 7 1/2 months (she drinks about 6-6.5 oz of milk
*Even though at 6 mo she said "Baba" and "Mama", she stopped - and now is starting to make "bwah, buh" type repetitive sounds. She LOVES to talk and babbles constantly.
*She gets a kick out of dogs
*We started limiting the amount of TV she watches. Now usually just 15-30 mins a day broken up
*She spins herself in a circle by getting on knees and moving one hand over the other in side-ways motions
*Likes to bite (I mean attack) faces especially if she can bite on chins
*Still sucking fingers, still sleepin on tummy or side, still holding blanky over face
*Oh, and now she is all over the crib and likes to play or "roll" a little red spinny thing on her fisher-price sound & lights aquarium (attached to the crib)
*Won't stay put on the changing table, instantly flips as soon as it's time to switch out the diaper.
*Getting rosy cheeks from either dry skin or just from teething
*Hair is growing longer - still not enough to clip a bow in.
*First Crawl: 12/3/09 - almost 8 mo old! (still no teeth)
I do have video of the crawling that I'll post later. I can't believe Christmas is 17 days away! (It was just Thanksgiving!?) I need to get Christmas cards out the DOh'. I wanted to take Aislynn to get pictures with Santa too - How fun it's going to be! We still have to put up some decorations and get our stockings out. I wish I had more time to be creative b/c there are so many things I wanted to do this year (like make our Christmas cards, make us all matching stockings... not to mention the gifts I actually have to make!) ugh!

Anyway, it's weird b/c last year, this time, I was pregnant - 1/2 way there. I remember identifying with Mary b/c I thought "how could she go through this pregnancy, knowing the baby she would birth would be the son of God, ultimately giving his life for others?" This year, I identify with her in a new way b/c now I truly FEEL the amazing love you have as a mother, watching my child grow - wondering what's in store for her, wanting to be a good mom & raise her right. I think about what Mary felt knowing she was raising the SON OF GOD! a Prince! I know God loves my Aislynn as much as He loved Jesus and I feel an overwhelming responsibility to raise her like I was raising Jesus. I think about the scene from "The Passion" - where Mary is watching Jesus carry the cross... and how he stumbles... she's reminded of a time from when he was a little boy running, and stumbling... Every night, I thank God for my precious baby. Aside from God sacrificing his own son for me - Aislynn is the most amazing gift. Instead of being sad that she's growing so fast, I want just want to rejoice that my baby is on her way to becoming something amazing - someone that will bring light to others, and glory to God!
So, my busy week began with a productive day of cleaning on Sunday. Lots to do still in preparation for Christmas (as mentioned above). Friday we have a Christmas party for our church worship team (fun!) then this weekend I have to get our package ready for Canada. We're already behind schedule! I wish I could take the rest of the month off! We did hire a deck-contractor and HOPEFULLY he'll hurry up and start/finish by this weekend (although it's unlikely w/ this rainy weather).
Will post more pics/video soon! One thing I HAVE to remember is to take her hat off while traveling in the car... This weekend on the way home, she fell asleep and AGAIN her hat slipped down - lights out... so cute!

    Aislynn 7 days old & 7 1/2 months old
